Survival rate as a parameter of sustainability of the honey bee population and bee colonies

چکیده

Abstract The results of studying the number honey bees in colonies and determining evaluation age-stage specific survival rates bee have been presented. rate depends on egg-laying queen bee, period season, level development reaches a minimum all after main collection S = 0.3-0.5. In spring autumn periods, there is high negative correlation dependence ( r =−0.7÷(−0.9), between (number brood) survival. average summer periods for strong families 20-30% lower than weak medium families. values types are more one. This result typical associated with presence wintering life expectancy (up to 9 months) colonies. A decrease flow <0.5-0.6 may be one factors colony collapse disorder (CCD) due violation gene expression mechanism during transition from hive activity forager or autumn-winter period. determines sustainability population, increasing allows you manage vital colonies, reduce impact various adverse bees, risk CCD, population ecosystems.

Modelling Food and Population Dynamics in Honey Bee Colonies

Honey bees (Apis mellifera) are increasingly in demand as pollinators for various key agricultural food crops, but globally honey bee populations are in decline, and honey bee colony failure rates have increased. This scenario highlights a need to understand the conditions in which colonies flourish and in which colonies fail. To aid this investigation we present a compartment model of bee popu...

Metatranscriptomic analyses of honey bee colonies

Honey bees face numerous biotic threats from viruses to bacteria, fungi, protists, and mites. Here we describe a thorough analysis of microbes harbored by worker honey bees collected from field colonies in geographically distinct regions of Turkey. Turkey is one of the World's most important centers of apiculture, harboring five subspecies of Apis mellifera L., approximately 20% of the honey be...

Retrospective study of the Nosema ceranae infection of honey bee colonies in Iran (2004-2013)

Nosemosis is the most common disease in adult bees. Nosema apis and Nosema ceranae species are agents of important economic losses to beekeepers around the world. The severity of disease at various area is different. Previously, N. apis was observed in areas with a long winter, especially in late winter and early spring. But in recent years, disease has been reported in the warm seasons. The st...

Honey Bee Colonies Remote Monitoring System

Bees are very important for terrestrial ecosystems and, above all, for the subsistence of many crops, due to their ability to pollinate flowers. Currently, the honey bee populations are decreasing due to colony collapse disorder (CCD). The reasons for CCD are not fully known, and as a result, it is essential to obtain all possible information on the environmental conditions surrounding the beeh...
